ACO 5.0 - Image Compositing

Q2: ACO 5.0 - Image Compositing

GOAL: Create a unique and interesting set of 3 different composite images, each composed from at least two separate photos that blend elements of both into a new and creative subject with an intended message.


First, what is image compositing and why are these types of photos created? Explain the rule of thirds and how it can be used to enhance composition. Give an example of how the rule of thirds can be used incorrectly. What do professional photographers think about before taking a picture? Do you believe all photos should be edited... why or why not? (6 sentence minimum)

Then, explain the strongest message you plan to communicate through your BEST composite image concept. Describe specifically how this composite image will communicate your message. What composition, angle and/or position (CAPs) are used in the photos that make up your image composite? When your audience first views your best image composite, where do you anticipate their eye will go first and why? (6 sentence minimum)

ACO 5.0 - Visual Statement

Our topic is about the positive effects of video games and the benefits provided with it. I joined this group so I'd have something to work with so this topic really isn't important to me in my opinion but to my partners in my group I guess finding the positive effects of video games is exciting for them because they love to play video games. Our project goal is to show that video games can have positive effects to kids and adults in physical need. Jessi and me are the lead editors and Nicolaus is the lead writer and Dreyden is the lead Camera. We all contributed but we took our time and now we're falling behind, the project will get done but it wont be as entertaining as the other groups in the class who used they're time wisely.

Some Final Cut Pro editing shortcuts that were used in our project was (command C), (command D) etc. Those were just some shortcut examples that we used to complete our project more quicker. FCPX was a very important tool used in our project to finish things quicker and save all of our audio and videos we wanted to use in our presentation. Lowering or enhancing audio levels in different clips are very crucial when trying to make a perfectly completed project, enhancing the audio levels in clips that are very important will catch the audience to make them soak in the information that we are trying to share. The audio was more in our favor because we got to use Mrs. Sanderls high quality microphone when in the video tasks we weren't able to use high quality cameras so we used an iphone 8 to complete our film.

Our biggest challenge in this project was staying on task and being able to use the high quality tech like FCPX, recording, editing, embedding, etc. We overcame these difficulties by focusing on one task at a time so each task was finished quicker and more better than it would be just having one person focus on one task at a time. Our driving force was Nicolaus because he was trying to finish this way early in the beginning when the rest of the group was slacking off. More towards the end was when our whole group finally contributed and worked as a team because we were so behind in our work and we had limited time to finish it. The most enjoyable part of this project was the filming because I was the camera man and it was the easiest part of this project for me. I totally agree with the critique results because we weren't really prepared correctly and was slacking in the beginning so at the end we just had to work with what we had which wasn't much so yes I do agree with the critique results.

ACO 1.0 - Modern Art Movement

Pablo Picasso and George Braque founded the art style of cubism in the years close to 1907. For example, influenced by cubism, the french painter Fernand Léger developed a unique style of cubism using cylindrical and other geometric forms with mechanically smooth edges. Cubism influenced thousands of artist to use this fine art style to make the painting depict real-life objects. Artist use cubism to bring a real-life art piece to entertain the audience. My personal thought about this art movement is that in my opinion doesn't really mean a lot to me but if I were to be an artist then yes I would love for this art movement to be brought out farther into the world.

The Weeping Women by Pablo Picasso, 1937

Pablo Picasso is the creator for this artwork called "The weeping Women" made in 1937. In my opinion he was trying to seem as if the women is sad or "weeping". Yes I do believe that an artist can persuade someone's perception of art, why? Because art can be a very powerful way of showing something, some people can tell what the artist was trying to say in the artwork just by looking at the piece. In my opinion with our high technical devices we have these days it ruins the whole point of real art, to me real art is created by objects/materials instead of on a computer with digital help.

ACO - Workplace Safety Video

The project goal was to finish a video requiring different standards and our topic was about preventing hostile workplace. My teammates Dreyden Iwamoto and Tupelo Lathrop were hyperlinked into the Digital Portfolio so others looking at one of our posts would have access to the whole teams posts. Dreyden: Editor  Tupelo: Sound Design Cameron: Digital Portfolio. In my opinion I feel that Tupelo pushed hard for this project because majority of the project Dreyden and I were lost at some points but Tupelo knew what he was doing the whole way through. Tupelo did about 40-50% of the work when me and Dreyden both did about the same amount of work. Great job Tupelo.

Our biggest takeaway was that we didn't use our time wisely, but at the end it all worked out and we got the project completed. What I learned was being a good communicator can amplify your employment-ship by a lot. Our clarity of audio seemed to be our best score and our lowest score was our entertainment value. I agree with the audiences voting because we didn't use the time that was given to us, or we didn't use it wisely. What I would have done differently is use every minute that Mrs. Sanderl gave to us to do in class.

ACO 5.0 - Coding Altino Cars

Understanding the basics of coding can help you understand how things work in unison on your website, and steer clear of causing any breaks while editing your content. Even though some people might not take a job that requires knowing how to code, it's still important to know how to program and know how to code. Challenge #1 was a assignment that me and 2 other partners had to create a code that would program the altino car to do a figure 8 and stop on the finish line. My group copied a sample that Mrs. Sanderl put into our slides to get a start on the assignment then we edited to sample and made it our own. We programed the car to turn every 1.2 seconds to create turns that would make the car go around the corners smoothly. Working through the trial and error was difficult, we tried many different strategies and techniques to complete the assignment.

The new commands added into Challenge #2 was a little difficult for me to process in the beginning. Their were 4 new commands, while loop, array, display line, and sound. If Auto Indexing is enabled, values from array structures will be passed one at a time. If Auto Indexing is disabled, then the entire data structure or value will be passed at once. So for example, for the array structure, if Auto Indexing is enabled, on each new iteration the tunnel would pass the next value IN the array (notice this is may not be an array data type). But if Auto Indexing was disabled, the tunnel would pass the entire array structure. More into the future where autonomous cars will be advanced then yes I would trust an autonomous vehicle to drive me around. I think that autonomous vehicles will be put on more critical/difficult jobs such as an autonomous ambulance. Why? Because I feel like in the future we will rely on technology in the next 15-20 years.

ACO 3.0 - Art and Design

In my Still Life painting their were elements used such as line and texture. Those two elements of art were used majority in my Still Life then all the other elements applied. By using line I changed multiple different filters, inverting the colors, color blur, and many more but those things made line appear in my artwork. Texture is always applied in any art piece but in my artwork specifically it was used by smoothening/texturizing my mountains to make some objects pop out more. You're texture brush at most times needs to be at a specific brush size to increase the amount of detail added into the art piece. What I found enjoyable in this project was the easy steps such as inverting colors, changing filters but, what I found challenging was lining out the artwork with the drawing pad because it really isn't an accurate outline than doing in straight from your pad on the computer. 

My landscape image was taken at the Kalalau lookout on the west side of Kaua'i. It was taken on a very beautiful day with the clouds over us with the wind giving us cool breeze. From our Still Life and landscape photos, they are both very similar with the same elements of art applied such as line and texture. I stuck with the more advanced tutorial because to me if it's more difficult or challenging then it must have a more detailed outcome. Since I did the more advanced tutorial my piece came out fairly nice but it wasn't because of the type of process I chose, it was because of the bad quality used to take the photo. The outcome of my landscape was fair in my opinion, I know I could've done better but the photo was just to bad in quality.

The photo was taken in Seattle Washington by me and this person is one of my siblings named Michael. I took the photo because he wanted to send my family a picture of him having fun because it was just me and him for 2 weeks in Washington. This picture means a lot to me because he is one of my favorite people in the world and thats why I chose this photo to use in my project. This final image does not include all of the Elements of Art  because I was behind on the assignment but I made sure to include texture, line. I agree with the results I got which was in the middle kind of score and I agree fully with they're decisions because I was behind on work this unit. My critique results was fairly good but at the same time bad, why? Because even though I wasn't 100% finished I still made sure to complete it at the best of my ability and my results are good in my opinion. The mix portrait was obviously going to be my highest score because thats the art piece I spent the most time on and I agree fully because the mix I made sure to include all the Elements of Art such as contrast, texture, line and so on.
